The Equations:
Size of target in yards X 1000
= Range in Yards
Size of Target in Mils
Size of target in inches X 27.778
= Range in Yards
Size of target in Mils
Size of target in inches X 25.4
= Range in Meters
Size of target in Mils
Example 1: Looking through the riflescope, I located a preset target that has a known size of 12”x12” square. By using the Mil Dots I
measured the target to have a Mil reading of 1. What is my distance to the target?
Known size of target: 12”x 12”
Mil Reading: 1Mil
12 X 27.778
1 Mil
= 333.33 Yards
